Client: Independent operator
Asset type: Jack-up drilling rig
Location: UK
At the request of our client, our ModuSpec team boarded the jack-up rig to conduct a jacking system equipment survey prior to the rig commencing operations. The purpose of the survey was to identify any potential issues that could impact the client's drilling campaign.
The main safety concern during the jacking survey equipment survey was the protruding gratings installed at the forward leg, forward chord. The gratings sections were found improperly secured to the platform structure. The main technical concern was the oil sampling maintenance practice at the jacking units and auxiliary equipment.
A month later we returned to conduct a BOP and well control equipment survey. The BOP functioned correctly and no obvious issues or defects were observed.
Results: The inspection highlighted issues which had to be rectified ahead of drilling operations.
"The inspection, report and findings were solid and well done. Overall, we're very happy with our collaboration and interaction with ModuSpec."
