Our client had been looking to buy a land rig in several countries for a long-term drilling campaign.
In partnership with the client, we performed the following:
- Located a rig in Houston for purchase.
- Conducted two inspections on two different rigs, the first rig was rejected. The second rig was inspected and purchased.
- Carried out an audit on the yard where the modification would be carried out to ensure the company was API compliant. This included a financial background check of broker and the yard.
- Carried out an audit on the various workshops where the equipment would be overhauled.
- Attended the various FAT.
- Weekly visits to the main yard and workshop where the modifications were being performed.
- Performed an RDIT prior to the rig being shipped
Results: Open conversations between all parties resulted in a successful rig intake process – when the rig arrives on location it will be ready to commence drilling operations. We received positive feedback from the client upon completion. The client has indicated with the success of the rig acquisition, further rig intakes may be on the horizon as it expands its drilling program.
