IWCF Well Control in Design and Lifecycle Management

IWCF logo
We are proud to be among the few providers of the International Well Control Forum (IWCF) Well Control in Design and Lifecycle Management course – recommended for experienced personnel with a key role in well design and planning for well operations.

Formerly known as IWCF Level 5, the five-day course aims to enhance delegates’ ability to:

  • Recognise the impact that design, planning, and programming can have on the construction phase and on well integrity assurance throughout the well lifecycle.
  • Identify and specify well control actions that can be taken when working outside of the normal operating window.
  • Ensure that engineers in office-based functions have well control competence to support rig/wellsite operations.

The course includes practical activities using table-top exercises and/or simulators and follows the guidelines of the International Association of Oil & Gas Producers (IOGP) 476 recommendations for enhancements to well control training, examination, and certification report.

The learning outcome is for delegates to:

  • Have discipline-specific skills and subsurface/geological/production knowledge to be capable of planning and performing safe well design and/or intervention operations.
  • Be able to evaluate technically on deviations to the well operations plan and advise accordingly.
  • Be able to support operational teams when assessing critical well situations.
