ModuSpec was contracted to provide technical oversight and rig inspection services during the reactivation period and integrated acceptance testing (IAT) of the Maersk Deliverer semi-submersible drilling rig.
Our client was in the process of contracting the rig for operations in the Ichthys Field in the North-West Shelf of Australia. We were contracted to provide technical oversight and rig inspection services during the shipyard rig re-activation period, and also during the transit from Singapore to Australia. Furthermore, our client was pioneering the use of Managed Pressure Drilling (MPD) in Australia, and contracted our team to provide specialist MPD services and training.
We provided continuous coverage, from the shipyard stage, contract acceptance, IAT at a standby location in Australia, with a team of five personnel travelling with the rig during its 24-day transit. The team comprised a Senior Mechanical Surveyor, Senior Electrical Surveyor, Senior BOP surveyor, Senior Systems & Controls surveyor and Project Engineer.
We were the primary focal point on the rig for our client, and attended daily meetings, worked closely with Maersk, witnessed acceptance tests, provided comprehensive corrective action lists, monitored progress and produced detailed technical reports.
Results: We were able to provide a quality service through our people, systems and communication, working closely with the client to tailor our services to the project's specific requirements, with the rig successfully accepted by the operator.
